Data from Shopify

When you install Translingo, we access certain data from your Shopify store based on the permissions (scopes) you grant. The data we process includes:

• Store Information: Shop name, domain, and email address of the store owner
• Legal Policies: Access to your store's legal policies
• Markets and Products: Data about your store's markets and products
• Locales and Translations: Data required to manage translations

API Keys for Translation Providers

When you connect a translation provider, we store the API key you provide. This key is:

• Stored Encrypted: The key is encrypted in our database and only decrypted when required for translation-related actions, such as processing your requested translations or retrieving supported languages.
• Limited Use: The key is strictly used for operating the application, including actions like translating store content and retrieving provider metadata. It will not be used for any other purpose outside of these operations.

Translation Requests

We store details of all translation requests processed through the app, including:

• The content to be translated (e.g., product descriptions), and the translated content.
• Metadata such as the date, time, and status of the request.

This data is retained to ensure transparency and provide you with a history of translations processed.

Cookies

Our app uses cookies to:

• Maintain session data during your use of the app
• Improve performance and enhance user experience

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data based on:

• Contractual Necessity: To provide the services you requested
• Legitimate Interests: To improve and secure our app

4. Data Retention

We do not retain personal data like your email or name beyond its single-use purpose for app functionality. Operational data (e.g., translations) may be stored as necessary to provide services.

• API Keys: Retained for as long as the connection to the provider remains active. If you disconnect the provider or uninstall the app, the API key is securely deleted.
• Translation Requests: Stored for up to 24 months, or until you request their deletion. Retention is necessary to provide an audit trail, ensure transparency, and support operational needs. After the retention period, data may be anonymized or securely deleted, unless required for ongoing disputes or legal obligations.
• Translation Content: The content of translation requests may be stored for up to 31 days. This limited retention period is necessary for purposes such as debugging, ensuring operational accuracy, and maintaining an audit trail. After 31 days, translation request content is permanently deleted from our systems.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your data with third parties except when necessary to:

• Fulfill our contractual obligations (e.g., sending data to a connected translation provider for processing translations)
• Comply with legal obligations

Please note that when you use Translingo to connect with third-party translation providers (such as DeepL, Google Translate), the privacy policies and terms of those providers apply to the data processed through their services. Translingo is not responsible for how these third-party providers handle your data, and we encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

6. International Data Transfers

As our servers may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), any data transferred internationally is protected under appropriate safeguards, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR
